U.S. Grant's Birthday Celebration: Fourth weekend in April.  Activities include a Living History, Civil War Ball, A Civil War Battle Reenactment, and a Ladies Tea.

Ohio Valley Antique Machinery Show:  Second weekend in August, Georgetown

Ohio Tobacco Festival:  Fourth weekend in August, Ripley

Sorghum and Sawmill Festival:  Second weekend in October

Only one half block from the Bailey House you will find the boyhood home of Ulysses S. Grant. The home is open Monday through Saturday 9:00-5:00. Admission is free. Private tours of the home can be arranged through the Bailey House.

The 1829 public school building, attended by Grant, is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Wednesday through Sunday, 12:00- 5:00.

The Thompson House, circa 1836, now a gallery for the artwork of John Ruthven, is open Monday through Saturday.

Another point of interest in Brown County is it's covered bridges. Information on the location of these bridges can be obtained by the innkeeper.

Just a short drive away, in Ripley, Ohio, you will find several museums including Ripley Museum, Rankin House, Parker House, Ohio Tobacco Museum, and Carolyn's House of Mini Rooms.

Ripley also has many unique shops and antique stores. Ripley is best known for it's association with the underground railroad, the Rankin House being used by runaway slaves after crossing the Ohio River.

Moyer Winery, located in Manchester, Ohio is also a worthy destination. The winery also includes a restaurant and tours may be arranged with advance notice.

Tour Brown County Quilt Barns--13 barns have old quilt patterns painted on the sides so everyone can enjoy the Appalachian Folk Art in the county.
